Fabulous Florals: A Beadweaving Garden Paperback – October 18, 2011

I did purchase this for a pretty low price but I do love the designs within! There are only 9 designs within, but they are all of a mored advanced look. Although they look advanced, with it being very well detailed and diagrammed I am sure that even a beginner could make these! All of the designs are of a floral nature and it ends with the cover design, which is gorgeous! There is a gallery in the back that shows some variations on the designs and all of these designs can be altered in many, many ways.

I purchased all the supplies for the cover piece, but I haven't made it yet. My bead embroidery guild keeps me quite busy, but I hope someday I'll have the time to complete. Very well written with supply list and clear instructions. Great book! Highly recommend for the bead weaver lover!

I absolutely have to judge the content (4 stars) seperate from the print quality (0 stars) for this review!The book features 9 projects, which are all shown on the back cover. It's great that you get a peek at all the projects before you buy. The directions seem clear, but I would not recommend this book for beginners. For a few of the flower bases there are specific text directions, but they are not all illustrated with pictures. You will get step-by-step TEXT directions, but definitely not step-by-step illustrations. It kind of shows you the first couple rows, then you get a vague raspberry-looking outline of where you're supposed to finish off that series of steps and start embellishing. :) I'll upload a sample page of that since I think it's the hardest part of what's in the book, you can judge if you're up to it.Other than that, I think you'll love the content if you like floral beadwork and have come far enough to read this review!Now for the book itself.... terrible! A light mustard colored text on white background is a terrible eye strain, and the image/page quality is also pretty bad. The pictures absolutely do not do the projects justice since the book has the appearance of low-quality color photo copies that are a little blurry. I think you should look up her projects online to get a good look or hopefully you can envision the beauty of the finished pieces and appreciate the fact that the photos fall very short of capturing it.I truly hope other customers come back to upload pictures of their finished pieces too!

The pieces are beautiful and skillfully done...on the other hand the book quality is awful. The paper pages are rough and feel cheap and the photos are blurry and poorly printed which makes it hard to see the details. The written instructions are ok but the charts are poor. Several do not give thread paths and in others the thread path is printed so pale that it is very difficult to see. It assumes you can proceed without help after a few basics to get you started so it is not particularly good for beginners.I was so excited to receive this book but was very disappointed when I opened it. Thus the mixed bag...the projects are beautiful but the book quality is amateurish and poor. For the price I expected more.Good designers with good projects. Too bad they didn't work with a professional publisher who could do their designs justice.

Unbelieveable. Fatastic. Anything you could want in a how to book and a little bit more.Even if you don't use one pattern, which I doublt you can resist, this is a great book to lift your spirits.

Great book on different floral patterns. Directions are illustrated well enough so a novis can complete a project and give the more experience beader ideas on how to improve their floral patterns.

I really love this book I was looking for a book that would show me how to different flowers that I could use in my jewelry designs. I will get lots of use from this book. Thank you

I was very disappointed with this book.First, it is very short. Too few patterns for the price.Second, the only piece I would consider wearing is the one on the cover. A couple of the patterns are downright hideous.Third, it didn't teach me anything. I am a "floral" bead nut and already have a few "beaded garden" type books. The "floral" part of each pattern is based on one stitch: decreasing brick stitch. The problem is that I already knew how to do this stich. I learned nothing from this book. There are other "floral" bead books out there that teach you much more.To me this book represents the problem with buying craft books online without being able to see all the patterns. I had a similar problem with a "free form" peyote bead book which literally taught me nothing. No more. From now on I am only buying books I have already looke at in a store.
