Working good as advertised
So far so good. Plug and play on windows. Works well and slim. I am satisfied with the read speed that averages a little over 6.5MB/s for me.There's couple minor things about using this DVD drive. Probably because of the slim design, it's a little difficult to close the drive. I have to put some pressure on top of drive (to station the drive) and then push in right at the middle of the slot to close. Or you have to use both hands.Another thing is that the cable is short. about 8". It works great for laptop when you place them side by side. I use it with a desktop and I need USB extension cable. But since it is powered through the USB cable, adding extension cable resulted in not enough power. I need to add a USB self-powered hub to provide necessary power when used with extension cable. Note that this is not a problem particular to this drive, but in general to USB 3 powered devices that require higher power requirements. All in all, I am happy with the product.

Easy to use and does the job!
I bought this to replace a built-in DVD drive that had failed, but wanted to use the large screen on my ThinkCentre. First, this Rioddas CD/DVD external drive arrived incredibly fast. I ordered Wednesday lunchtime, and found the package delivered to my doorstep by Thursday late afternoon. And most importantly, the Rioddas CD/DVD external drive really is "plug n play", so I got to watch a movie last night after coming home from work. Eight inches is rather short for the cord, but with my computer desk this is not an issue, and it's possible to obtain a USB to USB extension cable cheaply if you need one. It's definitely lightweight, which will make it easy to carry, although I don't intend to do that very much. If you do, obtain a cushioned bag to protect it. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied; the Rioddas CD/DVD external drive is easy to use, and does the job!

Pretty good with one exception
I just got this DVD R/RW drive and it worked very well when I tried it for the first time. The driver loaded automatically (on Windows 7) with no problems, and it connected to the computer and ran a test movie with high quality. I could control the load and eject either with the button on the front of the drive or with the controls in the computer. My only complaint is that there's a small channel at the back of the drive for the USB wire to exit from its storage area below the drive. Unfortunately, that sends the wire out in back of the drive, but in order to use it with my configuration, I need to have it exit from either the front or side, and when it does, it's a bit too thick for the small feet on the drive, so the drive rocks a bit. If not for this, I'd give it five stars. One fix would be to use a USB extension wire, but that's pretty ugly, so my fix will be to paste four additional feet onto the bottom. That being said, I do like the neat way that the USB wire tucks into the recess on the bottom for storage and transportation. It's just a pity that they didn't provide attrition exit channels for the wire.So far, I've used it only once, for the test, so I don't know how well it will perform over the longer term.

Great little drive
I bought this after my LG portable CD/DVD drive's latch failed and the disc tray would not stay in. For the low price, I've been very happy with this purchase so far! It's significantly quieter and faster than the LG model - when ripping audio CDs, they take less than 5 minutes with this drive and closer to 30 with the LG drive. It feels better built (brushed metal versus thin plastic) and is a little heavier. The cable is integrated into the device itself, which is helpful since it's impossible to lose. The only negatives are that this is very slightly bulkier than the LG drive, and the cable is a few inches shorter. These haven't been a problem for me though.Oh, it's also significantly quieter. The LG drive sounds like it's taking off when you put a disc in. This drive is impressively quiet!Overall, very pleased.

Great, Cheap Option!
Kept buying (and breaking) ultra-thin portable drives for about twice the price of this item. Didn't want to spend a lot of money on yet another drive, so went with this option. Drive not only has better capability (also writes) than my previous purchases, but also has a built in cord, which solves my problems of either forgetting to bring the cord or (more often) me (or the dog) knocking the drive off the table by accidently pulling on the long cord. I put 4 star on light-weight, because it is slightly heavier than other purchases I've made (I don't really care, just want to give a true assessment on that category). If there is any negative comment, I guess its best attribute (the built-in cord) is also its worst, because it does limit the placement of the DVD to within a very close proximity to the USB port. Of course there is always options to extend the distance with USB extension cord if this is that problematic for you.

Sturdy and easy to use
I had two external DVD burners that I had gotten back when I lived in China years ago. They were kind of flimsy and didn't always work right, but eventually it was time to replace them. This product is much sturdier and has never had any problems. Now given people don't use CDs or DVDs much anymore, but it is nice to have the option to read one for that off chance where you need to, like installing an old game or something.I've used this on my Linux desktop, my wife has used it on her Macbook Pro, and some of my tenants have borrowed it to use for their schoolwork. It worked great for everyone. As far as the design, aside from being small but solid, it doesn't require a separate cable, but the built-in cable hooks into a groove in the bottom of the case, so you don't have a cable flopping around, but you also don't have to worry about cables getting lost or cannibalized by other devices or people. I'm very happy with this and I can't say I have a single complaint.
