Space Opera of immense scale?
These seven books tell the story of an ancient, ongoing battle of alien species that are unusual in many ways (stellar dwellers, sentient trees, sentient water etc.). The story only unfolds if you read all volumes, but overall it is worth the read. My only criticism is that the author frequently re-tells part of the story, presumably to remind the reader what has happened, but this is in addition to the introduction to each book, which retells the whole story. If you like to read about unusual aliens, which are described in some detail, and how communication across vast regions of space can change the psychology of these species, then read on. The books are compelling throughout and often filled with the unexpected. There are epic battles that enthral the reader and destruction on truly interstellar scales.

Far from ashes
If you have persevered through the first six books then I applaud your stamina. At times Anderson seemed to jump about a bit in furthering the plot sometimes to the extent of frustration. However, unlike some interminable series I have given up on (Pern, Gor, Wheel of Time) Anderson has presented and excellent and satisfying conclusion to the series. There is scope for developing some of the ideas further in spin-offs which should be worth reading. Highly recommended conclusion to the series.

A struggle to read
After a rather large gap finally read the last book Of the seven suns series. During my time away from the series I have obviously been spoilt by the likes of Peter F Hamilton, Mark Lawrence and Steven Eriksen to name just a few. Unlike in the others works, the characters in this were very one dimensional and doggedly stuck to their main character trait, to the point of ridiculousness. Because of this when any of the characters die, the best responses they got was an "oh" though invariably a "meh" was more appropriate. The scale of everything also seems so very small for something that is supposed to be galaxy spanning, there is no sense that this is being played out across lightyears with billions of lives affected.Of all the battles in the book, the real battle was the one to keep turning the page and get to the end. I have seen there are further books in this universe, however I do not think I will be revisiting ig.

An enjoyable Read
This is the last book of seven and I have enjoyed the series immensely. I like the way it was written with short chapters for individual characters.

This series of 7 books was recommended to me by one of my sons and i have to say that it is one of the best if not the best series i have ever read. The separation of each character as individual paragraphs made it easy reading and also kept the story flowing.Well written. can't wait to read more of KEVIN J ANDERSON'S books.

The final and 7th book in the series
This book was essential to complete my reading of the series having read the first six and then realised that there was one more book seek out.Having completed this book which was all that could be expected I now await the author's return and further additions to the stories that were so well presented. My purchase was quickly dealt with and the book delivered within days and in perfect condition.
