Overall this is a great value for the price.
This review is for NURSAL 2019 Upgraded White Noise Machine. My daughter uses it for the fan sounds to be able to sleep. For me, I think it’s useful to block out distracting noises while programming or just doing desk work.It has features that I did not find in other sound machines. It has an earphone plug. At first, I didn’t think this would be of much use because I thought the machine was mainly for sleep. But, you can use earphones to mask distracting noises while you’re working at your desk. Although it has small speakers, the sound is acceptable. I plugged my bose radio into the earphone jack and found that it has a very good sound range. With the bose attached, the bass really boomed. I would guess that, although not necessary, larger speakers would help if you need more bass sounds. I personally like the thunderstorm, river, and forest sounds. This device is powered by 4AA batteries or the power supply for an android phone with at least 500ma. Neither of these is included. However, it does come with a USB port and adapter cable. So, you can plug your android power supply into the device and use the adapter cable to plug into your phone. No power is delivered to your phone with only the AA batteries. Apparently, the batteries are only used to power the device. If you want to charge your phone, you must plug in a power supply. This will power the device AND pass thru to charge your phone. This device appears very well made and sturdy. It fits nicely on my desk or bedside table. The door on the bottom that covers the batteries fits very snuggly and feels very durable. This device has a choice of 24 different sounds. One button will cycle thru all of the sounds. Personally, I found the clock and heartbeat sounds annoying. I would guess they might be useful for calming small pets. But, I didn’t try it.I think this is a good choice and great value for the listed price.

Sounds Good
I don't have a problem falling asleep, so I've let my baby listen to this. It's a decent sound machine, though. I have posted a video of the 24 sounds that are included. There are 8 each for "natural sounds," "white noise," and "fans." "Fans" is exactly what it says: Sounds of different kinds of electric fans. The "white noise" to me sounds like static, but that's the point. The "natural sounds" have more of a range and are pleasant examples of whatever the topic sound is. You can also loop each sound for 3 minutes and have it then switch to the next sound automatically to do the same. Personally, I'd rather just pick one sound and let it go, but that's me.The unit comes with what is pictured. You can run it off of 4 AA batteries or a USB connection. It also includes a second connection for charging something else, like a phone or tablet, but you shouldn't do that if you're running on batteries. You can set three time periods if you wish, or just let it stay on. I tried it for an hour and it went off when expected. There is also, of course, a volume control with 16 volume levels. I don't know that you'd want it to be too loud, but in a quiet room it's plenty loud even when turned towards the lower levels. My video is not nearly at the loudest level, and I haven't desired to have it too loud, but it sounds good on every level I tried. There's also a headphone jack, so if you have headphones with their own volume control, you MIGHT be able to customize to your heart's content. I don't know for sure as I haven't tested that and it's just an idea.So it is a decent little machine for the price. There are special offers included inside - and it says it has a 12 month warranty if you register within two weeks of purchase - but I have yet to check those out. Again, if you want a quick sample of the sounds, feel free to check out my video. The actual sounds themselves are much longer and more diverse as they play, but to record them all enough to hear that, the video would be huge.

Almost perfect sound/sleep machine
The Nursal Sound Machine (2019 update) is a pretty good sound machine with a couple of drawbacks. The machine itself: The size of the machine is fine for the amount of sound it provides. I'd say it's about the size of an average alarm clock? There are speakers are both the left and right sides of the machine so you'll want to have it placed in as much of an open space as possible to fully utilize the sound. All of the buttons are located on the top and feel solid. They're all individual buttons which I appreciate (not 1 long button covering 2 options on a rocker - those are prone to snapping in center). They don't require much pressure at all and give a nice hardy *click* when actuated so you can feel as well as hear the presses. It comes with its own matching white micro-usb cable to power the unit, however you have to provide your own usb power plug. I found this slightly annoying as I shouldn't have to give up one of my own bricks to power the unit, but they do make an attempt to make up for that by providing a 5v usb charging port on the back of the machine. That's not going to make up for my loss of a fast-charging brick though. It provides the additional option of using 4 AA batteries to power it, which I suppose would make it portable if you were...say doing an outdoor yoga session? Doesn't hurt to have the ability, just not something I will utilize. It has an auxiliary jack port on the rear for those who want that tranquil sound for themselves via headphones (especially for meditation when others may be near). A nice, simple, and welcome touch. It also provides 3 levels of sleep timing options (as well as staying on until you turn it off) which again is a welcome option that shouldn't be overlooked. The options include 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours. The Sound(s): Having both of those side speakers, the volume range does well going from quiet up to unnecessarily loud (unless you're looking to fill an entire room/large space with the sound?) with a handy 16 increments between levels. The range of sound options is vast. There are multiple options for the fan and white noises. I didn't spend too much time with these as they're not for me. The nature sounds were what I was looking forward to. The one sound I was looking forward to the most was the rainfall/storm. I was sadly disappointed. It doesn't sound at all like rain. I'm honestly not sure what it's meant to be imitating as the dominant single noise reminds me of a drum stick hitting the outside rim of a snare drum - wood on metal. That noise is repeated frequently enough to make the rain sound option a complete no go for me. With that being said, I found all of the other nature sounds to be spot on and quite pleasant. The waves crashing on a shore is my definite favorite, but the rain forest and summer night both feel accurate imitated by Nursal. The running water brook/river is a little on the strong side for sounds that are to be calming but still depicts what I feel to be an accurate sound for what I would imagine as a sizable fast moving rapids. Conclusion: Overall, I feel the Nursal system is excellent at doing what it's meant to do. Despite having to provide my own power plug and the one sound I wanted the most being a letdown, it truly comes up aces in every other category. The amount of sound options are plentiful and varying. The volume increments along with the lowest and highest "loudness" settings should easily appease most users. A lot of bases are covered with all the included options to help make the machine applicable to a wide variety of use cases.Suggestions for the Manufacturer: Other than the 2 points I mention above, the inclusion of a clock face (dimmable from bright to completely off) would be the only addition I would see as being a feasible and fitting upgrade. Based upon the size, it's already fighting for space on night stands (such as mine) with alarm clocks. Having this side by side with an alarm clock may be too much for some. Making the clock dimmable would assure that it still fits all usage types (off for non-distracting yoga/meditation and on/visible for seeing in dark/sleeping). That would give this machine a better chance of keeping the already valuable and limited real estate of my nightstand.**This item was provided to me for free to test in exchange for my honest feedback and review.
