Addition Homework Helper, Grade 1

I ordered the 1st grade Homework Helper Addition and Subtraction books for my 5-year-old son who had grown frustrated with other worksheets and workbooks we were using for extra addition and subtraction practice. These books are smaller than average workbooks (these are 8.5 high x 6.5 inches compared to our other workbooks which are all about 11 high x 8 1/2 inches). I don't know if it's because of the size, because of the variety of worksheets included, or both, but my son seems much less frustrated and annoyed with these workbook pages than he was with the others we were using. The variety is very nice, the workbook includes pages where you color, solve riddles, use charts, compete in races, play tic-tac-toe, and more. Even with all of these variations and fun twists it is still completely centered on the topic at hand (addition or subtraction depending on the book). I have found in the past that a lot of worksheets or games lose the focus on the original topic when they try to make it more interesting so it's nice to have this book that manages to make it interesting without skimping on the actual math practice.

My stepson loves these little books. He enjoys doing all of the books from the 1st grade level. For the price of them you can’t beat it. I’d rather he occupy his mind with this than with a video game or watching TV or his playing on his chrome book.

I homeschool and my curriculum suggested a supplemental math book focusing on addition as we end our Kindergarten year. I got this one, and I love it! Just the right amount of problems and plenty of practice!

Great little series of workbooks, BUT... Needs editing.One of the worksheets is a "race" but unwinnable for one player because of a typo(missing problem).

Great deal for the price!

Got this for my daughter to keep her on track during summer vacation before second grade. It was a great book full of activities and fun math!

These books are amazing. Small easy lessons and very well put. Not repetitive lessons.

They are super small books! Half the size of a normal workbook. Was not expecting that.

I bought this to reinforce my 7 year-old stepdaughter's learning over the summer while we were on vacation. The activities start out with simple sums 0-10, but progress to 0-20 pretty quickly. Starting out with the easy stuff helped build my stepdaughter's confidence with the more challenging material, and I think encouraged her to keep working. My stepdaughter also enjoyed the coloring in and races between cartoon characters - that made it a lot more fun than just cranking out some sums on a worksheet and getting a tick for completing it. We kept her work to 10 minutes a day, and she was able to get through 3-4 pages each time.
